nombre noir 1982
The rarest fragrance in the world. A true unicorn.
Released for only ONE production year in 1982, Nombre Noir shouldn't even physically exist today. Quickly pulled from shelves a year after launch, it is said that the perfumer used a bulldozer to destroy every last one of these that remained. So it's miraculous we even have a bottle that has somehow been preserved. Who knows how many of these bottles really remain.
Discontinued shortly after its debut, it has since become one of the most elusive compositions in perfumery, rarely seen, even more rarely experienced.
A warm blanket of honeyed apricots, funeral cold - dark purple, crimson wine rose, and a narcotic honey. A somber gothic rose that is austere and velvety swirls of musk envelop the entire creation.
What remains is a scent suspended in time: green, shadowed, and quietly haunting. A composition that feels both restrained and surreal.
This is not a fragrance you come across.
It is one you search for and, occasionally, find - and never forget.
